Mills Spring Battlefield National Monument Kentucky – CONTINUED…
Since the Museum was closed during our original visit… We went again during operating hours on June 5th, 2024. 🙂
The front of the building had two cannons. I tried to shoot one but unfortunately (though fortunately for everyone else) there were a few missing components such as a cannon ball, wick, etc.
The wall displayed all the flags information poster. The most interesting was the Hardee Flag bottom right.
Unfortunately — In 1860, I would have still been considered shorter than average for a female.
General George Thomas played a major role in the Civil war and in Mills Spring. I found it interesting that he weight almost 300 lbs. That he almost missed a battle because his horse moved slowly and he was having trouble fitting into a new uniform.
General Thomas also used Chloroform on the injured, hired the first female doctor, etc.
Parrot Rifle along with many guns, knives, blades etc. were on display. See below for Parrot Rifle information.
