We were scheduled to go to Clinton Lake State Park but decided to cancel based on feedback from other campers. Specifically, that the park has gone downhill over the last 4 years, dump stations closed and bathhouses closed.
I called. As the person told us… only one of the bathhouses was open and it’s not the one in our camping area. Also, only one dump station was open. This would mean driving to the bathhouse and waiting in line at the dump station. Since Illinois State Park typically only have 2 shower stalls in each restroom, we’d most likely have to wait in line for showers too.
So, I started looking for alternative options… We ended up splitting time between our current park and next park. On one of the hottest days (90 F) with “extreme” and “dangerous” humidity per AccuWeather, we moved to site 85. Note: We didn’t have an option for moving since another person was scheduled to be in the site we were in. To make things more fun, the person moving into the site arrived 1 1/2 hours before check in. They were confused on what time it was because they thought Illinois was on east coast time (1 hour ahead).
The only site available was 85. A 50 amp pull through site with berry trees… At times, I hear the berries hit the trailer with a pop. To prevent red spots throughout the trailer… shoes, flip flops, etc. are left at the entrance rug. I’ll have to wash the rug after we leave.
Site 85 is a pull through so no back up divorces. With camping, back up directions has been joking called the divorce because it’s rough on both parties and frustration runs high :-).
The site is at the end of the loop and had a few tight turns. So, I have to watch a few corners to make sure we wouldn’t hit a garbage bin and trees.
We tried to park the vehicles in an area with fewer berries. Fortunately, the driveway was really long 🙂
Rafter (flock) of Turkeys was roaming the area. I didn’t see a male but did see female and her babies. They were soo cute and cool.
We’ve been in the campsite 2 days and the cats are loving it. Cleo has been engrossed in watching the dumpsters being dumped, neighboring dogs, birds, cars, people, etc.
One response to “New Site Same Park & we have Turkeys!”
Some of the turkeys at the park were sleeping in other RVs…
