Growers Produce Auction – Cashton, WI

Every Mother’s Day, Mom, Brenda and I go flower shopping in the Amish Greenhouses just past Cashton WI. They are well known in the area for the large, beautiful plants. In the Fall, Mom and I go mum shopping at some of the same greenhouses.

Anyone who grow and want to sell bulk produce, plants, etc. can sell at the Produce Auction. Everything is sold in bulk vs. what mom and I wanted which was just a couple plants.

The auctions are open to everyone and are really fun to watch. Many local and far away businesses travel to purchase plants, fruit, vegetables, etc. If you ever have a couple hours to spare and in this neck of the woods, I highly recommend going.

Mom and I went to a Friday auction which has more people than a Tuesday auction. The first thing I noticed was huge totes full of pumpkins. There were at least 4 long rows of pumpkin totes. I didn’t take a picture of the pumpkin tote rows, but if you think store entrance with pumpkin totes. Then line up 20 totes..

The facility had 3 more rows of full of fall vegetables (onions, potatoes, corn, squash, corn, etc.) And a whole room of mums and other fall plants. It was absolutely breath taking to see it all.

Just past the entrance, Amish ladies were selling baked goods, sandwiches, etc. All the sandwiches were put on fresh homemade buns. Stopping at the auction for food alone was well worth it. Any baked goods (donuts, cookies, bars, breads, buns, etc.) not sold at the end are auctioned off.

Understanding how bidding works…

The tag similar to below was be applied to sale lot. The tag includes the product description and quantity. When bidding, the bid price is multiple by the quantity. If you won the bid at $1. You would pay $21 dollars for lot 171 since the 171 has a quantity of 21.

The Amish Buggies were parked to the side of the building. The other sides of the building consisted of truck loading docks and car parking areas.

I’m obsessed with flowers and thought you’d like to see the everything that was for sale. And of course, a Selfie!!

Because plants are sold in large lots… Mom and I purchased individual plants from the Amish Greenhouses. We bought 2 orange / yellow mum for Mom and I and a burgundy mum for Brenda. The costs were phenomenal at $8 regular pot. $10 for pots with hangers. I wanted the hanging pot to help moving the mum from campsite to campsite.

My mum is on the left, Brenda's middle and Mom's on the right.

Mom and I had a wonderful day flower shopping and enjoying our time together!!

  1. Always enjoy time with the girls regardless what we are doing. Amish Shopping for flowers is one of the best! The Amish candy shop & Amish bakery is a must if they are open.
