Huh, I wonder if this was the first Capsule Hotel?

This natural formation on the Devil’s Den hiking trail has an irregular, but striking resemblance to a Japanese Capsule Hotel.

I guess that cave in the upper left is the deluxe capsule room? Capsule hotels are not unique to Japan, but Japan is probably best known for them. They tend to be located around train stations, and they target business people looking for a cheap single night stay. You can read more details about capsule hotels here and here. ¥3000 – ¥5000 is about $20 – $33 US dollars. The Motel 6 in Alma, AR is $59 – $65. The capsule is half the price of a Motel 6, but the Motel 6 has a king sized bed and private bathroom. The cost per cubic foot of space seems less than ideal.
