Salina Campground, KS

Salina Campground recently changed hands (like a month ago) and was called KOA Salinas Holiday. Fortunately, our reservation transferred over with no issues. The park is right off the I70 which is great a pit stop. The downside is you can hear all the interstate traffic. This noise does not interfere with sleeping, because we run the air conditioner fan at night as white noise.
Most of the sites are pull through and full hookup. The downside is the turns are fairly sharp for a 38-foot trailer. I talked with one of the workers and earlier in the week a trailer was damaged because they had issues with the turns. The premium and ultra-premium sites would be easier to get into but cost more :-). We had a regular site and John back in versus pull through
April through June is considered Tornado season. A tornado warning did go off for Salina County during our visit. The campground does not have an official Tornado Shelter. Nor did we ask where the shelter was upon arrival. We ended up going to the men’s restroom in the main office building because it was the only building with wood structure. The bathhouse was nice. The laundry room had 5 washers $2 per load and 4 dryers $1 per load. Reasonably priced compared to some laundromats. The recreation room was right next to the laundry room with tons of luxuries like couch, TV, hutch with games and books, pinball machine, microwave and coffee table. All very clean and organized.
There are many outside entertainment options within the park. John and I walk around and took pictures of us having fun. I’m creating a separate blog with those pictures.
