Greenway St. Vrain Trail

Longmont, CO, April 2025

Sign about the recovery from the 2013 flood

The St. Vrain river passes through Longmont, CO, and there is a bike trail that runs along part of the river (and tributaries). When completed, the trail should run from Greenway to St. Vrain State Park, but it stops about 3 miles short. From reading the sign, we learned that the St. Vrain river flooded and damaged part of Longmont. They rebuilt Longmont and the area around the river to withstand 100 year floods. The trail passes through both urban and rural areas, but most of it is urban. There are lots of bridges and underpasses on the trail.

There were various communities, parks, etc. along the trail. At a park behind a school, there was a small Japanese Torii gate and Pagoda. The area is Kanemoto Park. The Pagoda is a Japanese-style temple known as the Tower of Compassion. There is a small grove of cherry trees near the Torii gate.

Someone needs to learn that insects have 3 body segments, not 4.
