Yellowstone National Park, WY, May 2025
As promised, (a day late and a dollar short,) here are some of the videos of the river otter and grizzly bear from Thursday. The Sony Handycam that we have produces low resolution videos (720×480), so there is not a lot of detail. On the positive side, the videos can be much longer with a manageable file size.
(Note: The videos should play on an iPhone, but the video may show as a white box with a play button when no poster image is set.)
The federal government cutbacks are hurting the national parks. The parks have to pay river otters to plow the snow and grizzly bears to mow the grass.
The discussion in the last video was between John and another couple watching the bear. A ranger had just mentioned that this male bear is courting a female bear in the area. The gist of the conversation was:
John pointed out that the bear had clover falling out of the his mouth; his table manners are terrible. The man and lady defended him saying that his woman was not around; he is just taking it easy and having a slob day in his bachelor pad. John said he better watch out for her and clean up his act when she comes by. The lady said he is probably sick of waiting for his woman to show up, like men always are. John replied that she is probably doing her nails.
