Yellowstone National Park Day 9: Part 2

Yellowstone National Park, WY, May 2025

Grant Visitor Center recently opened. The building has Forest Rangers who assist with answering questions and a museum that focuses on the impact of forest fires on the park.

The chart below displays the fires by year and the impact.

A key to helping get control of the fires are the firefighters. There are a couple displays dedicated to the firefighters.

The air at higher elevations is not only is lower in oxygen but dryer. This has resulted in droughts.

It was ironic that while we were in the visitor center a storm with torrential rain suddenly hit and one of the bulletins was about lightning providing the spark for fires.

A tree cutout was at the ranger desk showing the impact of the fires on the tree.

Amazingly, I did not take any selfies in the visitor center.
