Pelican Nature Trail

Yellowstone National Park, WY, May 2025

Yellowstone National Park Day 2 post had a comment that the Pelican Nature Trail will be written in a separate post. A week or so later, I finally have the time to write the post. I hope you enjoy.

The nature trail is only a couple miles past the campground on the road going to the East Entrance. The trail isn’t that long (0.7 miles) and has views of Yellowstone Lake and a swampy meadow area.

Fortunately, this path was fairly dry with a little snow.

The first part of the path before the lake view entailed walking through a forested area. I thought the dead tree was pretty with the moss growing on it. Especially since everything else was either snow covered of dead brown grass.

Of course, I need to take a few selfies at the lake. I’m not sure John knows he’s in the background or not.

When we completed the trail we noticed a small path with a boardwalk on the side. I believe this used to be part of the trail but is no longer maintained. So, the path was routed to eliminate the boardwalk part.
