North Yellowstone Day 37: Part 2

Yellowstone National Park, WY, June 2025

This is part two of our drive to north Yellowstone. Part one has not been posted, yet. These are the pictures that I took with the Canon T7i for comparison to the Canon R7. For this day, the Canon R7 was set to electronic shutter and high speed burst capture, so it was taking 30 pictures per second. This is the day that I have nearly 2,500 pictures to look at. I am only about 40% through them.

Today, we went up to north Yellowstone stopping in Hayden Valley, Lamar Valley, Floating Island Lake, Hellroaring Trail, and Mammoth Hot Springs.

In Hayden Valley, we checked for the Green-winged Teal chicks, but we just saw some adults and a muskrat. This is one of the better Green-winged Teal pictures where you can see the iridescent feathers on the head.

It looks like the weeds are carnivorous, and they swallowed the muskrat. Feed me, Seymour!

Oh, and an American Wigeon. It does not have the full eye markings, so it might be young.

Oh, look! A close up picture of the Canon R7 camera!

In Lamar Valley, we stopped by the Golden Eagle and the Osprey nests. The pictures are clear, but the limitation of the 400 mm lens is apparent in both images.

There were no pictures at Floating Island Lake with the Canon T7i, but there are some Pika pictures from Hellroaring Trail.

There were no pictures at Mammoth Hot Springs with the Canon T7i, but we did see a Red-tailed Hawk (Dark Morph) sitting in a tree in Hayden Valley. Sorry, the video was hand held.

There are vastly more and better pictures from the 2500 taken with the R7, but if it takes 100 hours to cull and process the images, the camera is not an effective tool. We will post something more detailed, when we finally get those pictures processed.
