Tyler State Park, TX, February 2026
The hike around the lake trailer was approximately 3 miles long and fairly well kept. We didn’t have to duck under or climb over trees, and the trail was wide enough that we didn’t have grass, bushes, etc. rubbing against our cloths. We sprayed our cloths with DEET just in case. And for those of you in the colder climates, the temperature was in the low 70s and slightly humid.
This is the view from the fishing pier. The pier was maintained but definitely rocked in a way that a little kid would have loved.

One of the best parts of the hike was the hoard of red eared turtles in a small pond. John counted almost 2 dozen. We also saw red ear turtles on logs around the lake but not to this extent. Click on the link to learn more about the Red-eared slider – Wikipedia

We plan to hike the trail again with the spotting scope and camera to take pictures of the duck(s) and turtles. The pictures above were taken using the phones.
