Gulf Islands National Seashore, MS, March 2026
Since I missed adding my selfies before the first David Bayou Area post went up, I decided another post needed to be added.
I forgot my phone that attaches to my scope today which is the reason for no scope pictures. Mostly landscapes and selfies.
First picture was of the entrance sign.

The picture to the right was of the bayou behind the entrance sign.
The first stop was at the visitor center. Mostly, I needed to get my National Cancel stamp for my book and hopefully postcards. Sorry family, no postcards. The Visitor Center did not have a store :-(. Around the visitor center was a walkway and information boards.

We were told that an owl had taken over an osprey nest along a bridge. That was our next stop.
While John took pictures of the wildlife, I proceeded to take pictures of the area and my favorite sign.

No matter how much your family or friends drive you insane. You should not feed them to the gators.
Amazingly the park had a campground that had a few sites that might work for us. We drove around the campground and figured out which sites might work. As you can tell, John was doing the hard part by walking the sites and determining whether Starlink (our internet) would work.

The boat ramp had a place to launch canoes and small motorboats. Along with a family with a small boy fishing. The boy loved fishing and did not stop talking loudly the entire time. I wonder if he actually caught fish or scared them away.

There was two information boards about the various critters in the area.

Finally, we went to the pier. The pier had many fishermen and housed the police boats.

The fish was a mix the black drum and another fish that looks like bait. We also learned that ocean catfish can have flesh eating virus in their spines. I definitely do not want to go fishing for catfish.
As always, we had another fun day exploring.
