Azalea Festival

Semmes, AL, March 2026

I love going to small town festivals especially when they include retail booths.

The Azalea Festival was held in Semmes, Alabama at the high school parking area. The festival included a stage for local school and group performances, Jeep Show, dog adoption area, blood drive bus, local business booths, craft and food booths and Army National Guard.

Our first priority was for John to look through the various food trucks to see if they had any food he was interested in. Most of the trucks did not have prices. As a result, we did not eat at a food truck and went to out to eat someplace else.

John saw the dog adoption area and told me it was behind the Jeep Show. Both of us did see the blood drive bus. No person was near the bus and it was a little on the older side. So, we were wondering if it really was a blood drive bus.

I really liked how the Army National Guard got into the act by having fun things for the family to do. I did not try doing a pull up.

I was a firewoman for a day. I really wanted to drive the fire truck.

They did let me drive the Jiffy Lube Car

We saw quite a few kids dressed up in dance and other outfits. Based on conversations I overheard throughout the day various performances happen on the stage.

The items sold varied from handmade food items to crafts plus face painting with costumes. Amazingly, I did not see anyone selling Tupperware or Pampered Chef items :-).

Overall, I had an enjoyable experience.
