Dames Ferry Park

Dames Ferry Park, GA, April 2026

I bought a Georgia Cancel Stamp book and discovered Dames Ferry Park. Dames Ferry Park is run by High Falls State Park which is the park we are currently staying at.

The key features of Dames Ferry Park is located on Lake Juliette and campsites are right next to the water. Most of the campsites have a sitting area within feet of the lake.

The downside is that the campsites is that it would be tricky to park even though the sites are pull through.

The campsites are on the fingers that stick out into the lake. The turn around is at the end of the finger and just large enough to turn around. The turn around would be questionable if your 5th wheel trailer was longer than ours.

The drive into the park is pretty the catch would be narrow roads. The roads were no worse then High Falls State Park with the advantage of no large root bumps.

The parks has a single dump station that would most likely need to be backed into vs. driven through.

The bathhouses have been updated and are in great condition. The one bathhouse had 2 washers and 2 dryers that cost $2 each. This is a great price compared driving to a laundromat in town.

We first drove to site 28 which was located at the end of the one of the fingers. It’s the most popular site in the park. According to the park attendant, the site is booked through 2027.

The above pictures was taken beside site 28. The picture was not taken with the campsite due to someone currently being in the site.

The picture below was taken from the picnic area at the end of another finger. You can see two of the campsite (10 & 11) that would potentially work for our trailer. We would need to back into both of those sites.

Afterwards we went to the small day visitor area which primarily consisted of a boat landing and a dock that had a sign only 2 people on dock due to stability concerns 🙂

Afterwards we drove back to High Falls State Park.

Notes for future reference:

  • Cricket and T mobile Hot spot was acceptable. Note extremely high but good enough for watching TV, creating blogs and gaming.
  • Starlink would be available but would most likely have some tree interference. The hot spot or phone hot spot would most likely be needed for gaming.
  • The park does not have hiking trails. Hiking would require going to another park.
  • The restrooms would be a fair distance from the acceptable campsites.
  • Shopping and visiting our friends in Macon, GA would be closer.
  • Sites in our acceptable list have Electric & Water.

Sites that would be acceptable

  • 28 (back in)
  • 10 (pull through but would have to back in
  • 11 (pull through but would have to back in)
  • 29 pull through. The care would need to be parked in the open space in front of the site.
