Daytime Ferry Ride

Jamestown – Scottland Ferry, VA, May 2026

I posted the first ferry evening ride a couple days ago. On that ride, I was driving back from Sandy’s house. This time John and I rode the ferry, in the early morning, to see the two campgrounds, go to Fort Monroe, and see Edith’s. We started the day at 9 am which is early for us, but that is late for most of the folks still working.

This ferry was not held up by a broken down car, this time, and we arrived 2 minutes before boarding. As a result, we did not have to wait to board and leave. It also helped that two ferry’s were running vs. one on the evening ride.

On my first trip, I was wondering if the cars should be turned off. I finally saw a sign indicating motors should be turned off. There are two signs on the boat, and you have to look for them. Luckily, I did turn the motor off for the 1st ride.

The following pictures were taken as the boat started leaving the pier.

Pictures from around the boat.

Approaching the other shore before we had to jump back in our cars to prepare for disembarking.
