Daughters of the Revolution (DAR)

National Mall, Washington DC, May 2026

I learned about the Daughters of Revolution (DAR) a couple weeks ago while visiting Sandy. Daughters of the Revolution is a collection of women who can prove lineal decent to a patriot who aided in achieving American independence. These women have formed an association that does philanthropic work and has a great wealth of genealogy information.

Sandy was able to trace our lineage back to the revolution for Grandma on Dad’s side of the family, so any female on Dad’s side could join. Sandy has already joined the organization.

While strolling DC trying to find the White House Visitor Center, we walked past the DAR building. I could not resist taking pictures, which I later texted to Sandy.

Sandy stated that DAR has an annual conference at the end of June and that she hasn’t been able to attend (yet).
