Pineview Campground, WI, Sept. 2026
Pineview Campground in Fort McCoy, Wisconsin is the only place where you reserve campsites on the 1st day of the month 1 year in advance. Fortunately, bookings starts at 9 am vs the typical midnight booking time.
Most places have rolling bookings that open up 1 year exact, 6 months, 120 days, etc. Kansas State Park open all bookings for the next year on some random date in December.
It is important to book asap on holidays that fall on a weekend or next to a weekend. Especially if you have a specific site you want. John and I pick sites based on Starlink internet, ease of getting into the site and site size.
At Pineview Campground, we prefer site 119. This site has a huge yard, reasonably easy to get into, full hookups and great Starlink internet. What I really like is that the area tends to be quieter than the older campground loops.
We booked site 119 already for August 2027. We needed to book the same site for our Sept 2027 stay. Because Labor Day falls on Sept. 6th, I expected the booking process to be crazy with lots of folks waiting in line for the office to open. In 2025, I showed up at the park office at 9 am to book for Sept 2026. There was at least 30 people already waiting. I learned my lesson for 2027 booking. I showed up at 7:30 with a lawn chair to wait for the office to open at 9 am.
I was the 3rd person line. One person who arrive after me drove from Madison, WI (about 90 miles away) to get cabins for Cranfest weekend. By the time the office opened there were about 15 people in line. This year the line was not as long. I believe this was due to Sept. 1st being a weekday and folks were working.
We were able to get our site with no issues.
I took a selfie of us waiting in line hoping to get the site we wanted.
