Dumpster #4 is the last full dumpster we need for mom’s house. We think we only filled it about 95%. There is some space for flat stuff on top, but we did not have any flat trash left. Most of the items remaining in the house belong to John’s brother or are his mom’s possessions that his brother wants to keep. The items that still require a dumpster are the living room carpet and maybe some cat stands from the front porch. The living room carpet is probably 20′ x 30′. The carpet alone will likely take at least 2 cubic yards. The cat stands are probably another cubic yard, unless they are broken down.

We could do a dump run with the truck and trailer, but dump runs are not very time efficient. An hour and a half round trip, plus half hour loading, and a half hour unloading. That is about six cubic yards per 8 hour day or a little over three days for 20 cubic yards. The dumpster is 20 cubic yards in 4 hours, but you pay about double for the convenience. (For reference, it has taken 3.5 weeks to fill and dispose of 4 dumpsters. If we drove trash to the dump ourselves, we would be at almost 5.5 weeks.) We may end up getting one more dumpster, but it only needs to be 10 to 15 cubic yards. We can use any extra space to dispose of some old furniture and junk in the storage workshop.
