Oklahoma Route 66 Passport Book & Route 66 Cafe Clifton, OK

John can attest to my obsession with passport books and cancel stamps. Passport books are soft covered books usually free and list attractions based on a theme like National Parks, State Parks, Finding Lincoln, etc. My new passport book is the “Oklahoma Route 66 Passport” The book splits the state into 4 areas. Currently, we are in the western portion of Oklahoma near Clinton which has 4 attractions.

Top right corner is the cancel stamp that you only get once visiting the location.

Since we are expecting bad weather Friday (wind gust up to 75 mph), we decided to explore Clinton and Route 66 Cafe.

The cafe is exactly what you would expect out of a Route 66 attraction. Fun signs and rustic decor. I think I like the waiting area seats the best. They were the tailgates of pickup trucks with bumper stickers still on them.

Notice the bumper sticker “Filthy Stinking Rich (2 out of 3 isn’t bad)”

I had pancake and sausage and loved the personalization on the pancake. My guess is almost every visitor takes a picture 🙂

One of my favorite signs said “eggs for 50 cents a dozen”. We asked the waitress if we could buy some and they were all sold out. But then eggs from the 50s and 60s probably would taste pretty foul.

I thought you might like to read some of the fun signs.

John would say that I’m killing with kindness with too many sweets.
The service provided to us was excellent and fast..

View of the interior. The cafe has a daily lunch special. Today was roast beef or chicken strips with sides.

The biggest exterior attraction was the mural with the flying cow. I think they did a great job of representing tornado alley Oklahoma.

We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast and would come back again.
