Guernsey State Park, Wyoming, April 2025

Guernsey State Park was a CCC park. One of the structures created was a stone toilet that soon became known as the “Million Dollar Biffy” because of the amount of time it took to finish the project.

These are pit toilets, still functional and now maintained by the Wyoming State Park System. Since the CCC was strictly for men, I was thinking that only men’s latrines were built. According to the internet both Men and Women’s bathrooms were built usually separately, and the men’s area would be larger.
The actual bathroom stalls remind me the Farmers Valley Community Hall toilets behind the building only fewer spiders and stone floors.

In current days the waste can be pumped out. I’m not sure what occurred back in the early day. It’s not like you can pick up and move the structure and did a new hole.
Additional “Biffy” Pictures

Unfortunately, no selfies on this stop. I was tempted to take one on the toilet but thought that might distress the readers 🙂
