7th Ranch RV Camp Day 1 Sunset

7th Ranch RV Camp, Gerryowen, MT, July 2025

We left Yellowstone National Park a couple days ago. The exit route we took went through the North Entrance to Gardner, MT. This route has a lot of switchbacks, turns and goes down around 2,000 feet in elevation. Needless to say, both cats got sick in the truck. Fortunately, most surfaces were covered in towels which soaked up most of the upchuck.

We then stayed 2 nights in Billings, MT. The goal was to give the cats a rest, go out eat to a decent restaurant food and stock the trailer. We also added washing all the truck towels and blankets to the list :-).

We pretty much ate all the meals outs. Between Pizza Hut for supper, McDonalds for breakfast, Taco Bell for lunch and Texas Roadhouse for supper. It’s the best food we have had in 6 weeks. The park has diners that charged $18 for bacon cheeseburger and fries that weren’t that great.

We are now at 7th Ranch RV camp. This is a privately owned park that literally is in the middle of nowhere just outside of Crow Reservation. The plan for this week is to visit Big Horn National Monument which is about 15 minutes away and Big Horn National Forest which is around 1 hour away.

John would say that I have an ulterior motive which is to collect Cancel Stamps 🙂 which I plan to do 🙂

The biggest challenge this week is that it will be a scorcher with temperatures between 82 and 101 F. Today the temperature hit 95 F. The trailer doesn’t do as well with cooling the trailer when the temperature is above 90 F with little to no shade. Usually, we end up with between 76 and 80 F. When the sun goes down the temperature inside the trailer will decrease to @ 73 F. Our biggest concern with high temperatures is if the power goes out the trailer gets too hot for the cats.

This evening, we looked out the window around 9 pm and saw a pretty sunset and I thought you might enjoy. Later, we went outside and saw fireworks :-).

Both cats decided to join John in his office. I was a little shocked because Cleo normally does not lay on John’s desk when both of us are home and Mackie is in the room. Mackie likes to pick on Cleo.
