Lake Vermillion Recreation Area, SD, July 2025
When we were in Custer State Park which is surrounded by National Forest, we stopped on the National Black Hills Forest Supervisors office which had a small store and of course cancel stamps :-).
At the store, we purchased a miniature (I mean really tiny) lego kit of Smokey Bear. With the plan that John and I would put it together on one of those not so nice days.
Today was a very hot (96 F), extremely humid day with a strong thunderstorm in the early evening hours. So, it seemed like a perfect day to put together Smokey Bear.
We started around 4 pm and ended around 7 pm. The project had 637 pieces that needed to be put together, 40 instruction steps and the instructions were not perfect. John had to correct a few things with incorrect instructions.
The building block kit is a knock off brand that is manufactured in China. John said the instructions are not as good as what you would find in a Lego Kit. Either way it was fun to put together. Most likely, we will continue to buy kits of animals found in the National Parks.
