We were driving from Summit Lake State Park to Comlara Park, and, at around 165 miles into the 260 mile drive, we stopped at Salt Kettle Rest Area off of I-74. The first thing I saw that was interesting was a large pond behind the rest area that people were fishing at. I think this is the first time I saw a rest area that was also a well used fishing spot.

The folks fishing were too far away to see if they were actually catching anything.

The park had a large Illinois sign and a remembrance for POW / Veterans.

Inside the building was the restrooms along with a large area with brochures and an attendant. We picked up a Illinois State Park brochure.
