Keeping Up with the Trends

Escatawpa Hollow State Park, AL, March 2026

Wednesday started with John’s office being invaded by lonely cats.

And it ended with frogs and toads raining from the sky.

Okay, Okay. We are pretty sure the toad was an innocent bystander and just out in the rain. It did rain really hard, and there was a Tornado Warning in the area. We took down Starlink, packed up loose stuff, battened down the hatches, and sheltered in the bath house. So, we had to take trendy Tornado Warning Selfies.

From the information available the next morning, it does not appear that there was a tornado reported around us. The rain was heavy, but the wind was not strong enough to be a tornado. Later, it was reported that there were at least four tornadoes in Alabama – three EF0 and one EF1.

We verified with the staff, that they have the normal policy. Seek shelter in the bath house, which the state park guarantees is no safer than a plastic Port-a-pot. They were not aware of any local shelters, but they decided it might be a good idea to update their information on this topic. Tornadoes are not as common in Alabama as they are in Oklahoma., so they do not think of them for planning.

Of course, there are a lot of bad photos with trying to sit on the floor and take pictures at odd angles with unhappy and uncooperative cats.

We have the “Half-head Family” photo.

The “Creepy Serial Killer Side-eye” photo.

The escape artist caught in the act.

And the faster than light frog.
